Preview: Ravenna Bluejays vs. Southern Valley Eagles
Ravenna is 5-0 against Southern Valley since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Ravenna Bluejays' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Southern Valley Eagles. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Ravenna's 25-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were beaten by Kearney Catholic 45-17 on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ravenna has scored all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Southern Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a hard 56-42 fall against Gothenburg. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Southern Valley came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Gothenburg is ranked 52nd).
Ravenna's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Southern Valley, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-1.
Ravenna was able to grind out a solid win over Southern Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, winning 50-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ravenna since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
