Baseball Recap: Guilderland Comes Up Short

Guilderland had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-6 to make it 11. They came up short against the Shenendehowa Plainsmen, falling 8-1. The Flying Dutchmen were not able to make up for their defeat to the Plainsmen from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Guilderland got a good showing from Jayden Henderson, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Henderson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

As for Shenendehowa, the win got them back to even at 2-2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory they have posted against Guilderland since May 28, 2021.

On Shenendehowa's side, Maximus Palermo tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Andrew Redick was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaar Bhusri, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Guilderland is set to challenge their familiar foe Averill Park at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Shenendehowa will face off against rival Colonie Central at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
