Softball Preview: Russell Red Devils vs. Lewis County Lions        
        
		
            
 Russell has been on the road for six straight, but  on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Lewis County Lions at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Russell is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 8.8  runs per game this season.
 Russell stacked  a  fifth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by  an  11-1 margin over Dawson-Bryant. The  win was just what Russell needed coming off of  a  14-2 loss in their prior  matchup.
  Audrey Patel was a major factor no matter where she played. She  tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off   six  hits. Patel has been consistent recently: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in 12 consecutive pitching appearances. Patel was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 1-for-3 with a  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Gabby Oborne, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was  Paige Hutchinson, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-4.
 While Lewis County couldn't quite beat Edmonson County on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the ten-point  defeat they were dealt  two weeks ago. Lewis County fell just short of Edmonson County by a score of  5-3. Lewis County has now  taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
 Russell is  on a roll lately: they've  won eight of their last nine contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record  this season. As for Lewis County, their loss  ended  a  ten-game streak of wins at home  dating back to last season and  dropped them to 3-3.
