Baseball Recap: Leflore County Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Leflore County faced off against Amanda Elzy on Tuesday. The Leflore County Tigers lost 20-7 to the Amanda Elzy Panthers. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 16-5.

Pierre Silas was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Markese Jones was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Leflore County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .385 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Leflore County's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Amanda Elzy, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leflore County will welcome Greenwood at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Amanda Elzy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against O'Bannon at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
