Softball Recap: Rustburg Red Devils vs. Amherst County Lancers
Rustburg proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 12) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Amherst County Lancers and snuck past 11-9. For Rustburg, this counts as revenge for the 7-1 defeat Amherst County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.
Laila Bigham made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Bigham was even better at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Nahla Bigham was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Blankenship, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
