Football Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Riverside's last matchup with Powder Valley could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Pirates were outmatched by the Badgers and fell 42-14. The Pirates lost against the Badgers in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 8-6 score last time.

Riverside lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Osmin Barrera, who rushed for 97 yards and one TD on only five carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 65 yards. Riverside also got help from Jeremias Calvillo, who showed off his sure hands for 91 receiving yards.

Riverside now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Powder Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverside will face off against Stanfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Pirates' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Powder Valley, they will challenge Crane at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Badgers will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
