Baseball Recap: Bessemer Academy Wins Going Away Against Hooper Academy

Bessemer Academy never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Hooper Academy Colts. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won four in a row.

Jackson Carmichael made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Carmichael was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Bessemer Academy let Jon Westin Beams and Alex Reynolds run wild. Beams scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Reynolds scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Beams also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jackson Akins, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Bessemer Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .792. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bessemer Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Hooper Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Bessemer Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Edgewood Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give Bessemer Academy their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Hooper Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Fort Dale Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
