Baseball Recap: Rutland Comes Up Short

Rutland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 22-7 to the Pike County Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, with their most recent defeat being a 16-5 loss on Monday.

Rutland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendarious Gilbert, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Kaelik Marcus was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Rutland's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12-1. As for Pike County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-13.

Coming up, Rutland will challenge Crawford County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pike County, they will venture away from home to take on Marion County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
