Volleyball Recap: Red Mountain Starts off Right with Win over Valley Vista

Red Mountain took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Valley Vista Monsoon with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Mountain Lions were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Monsoon, so the Mountain Lions were just returning the favor.

One reason for the win was Red Mountain's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-10, 25-9.

Leading Red Mountain to victory were Ella Sullivan and Jaycee Junker. Sullivan had ten digs and nine aces, while Junker had seven aces and four digs. Those seven aces gave Junker a new career-high.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Red Mountain will challenge Cibola at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valley Vista, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on O'Connor at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
