Softball Game Preview: Johnsburg Skyhawks vs. Antioch Sequoits

Johnsburg is 1-6 against Antioch since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Skyhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sequoits at 6:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Wednesday.

Johnsburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Woodstock on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Skyhawks with their most commanding win of the season.

Johnsburg let Sarah Nethaway and Kimmy Whitlock run wild. Nethaway got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Whitlock went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Whitlock has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Casie Majercik, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Johnsburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Antioch entered their tilt with Round Lake on Tuesday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Panthers a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Sequoits, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Johnsburg's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Antioch, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.

Johnsburg came up short against Antioch when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 15-10. Can the Skyhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
