Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Memorial Knights vs. Boston College High Eagles

The Catholic Memorial Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Boston College High Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Catholic Memorial was handed a ten-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Xaverian Brothers 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted against the Hawks since May 5, 2022.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boston College High). Everything went their way against Malden Catholic on Monday as they made off with a 22-2 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Jack Knight looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.

On the hitting side, Boston College High got a massive performance out of Jack Darcy, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The Eagles are undefeated when Darcy posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Tommy O'Donnell was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Boston College High always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Boston College High's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5. As for Catholic Memorial, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9.

Catholic Memorial came out on top in a nail-biter against Boston College High when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
