Basketball Recap: Pennington Comes Up Short

Pennington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 48-40 to the Northern Burlington Greyhounds. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Red Hawks came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 164th).

Northern Burlington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Makayla Brammer out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Brammer is becoming a predictor of Northern Burlington's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 5-2 (and 1-2 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Watson, who posted 17 points.

Pennington's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Northern Burlington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pennington will head out to square off against Hillsborough at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Northern Burlington, they will venture away from home to face off against Delran at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
