Softball Recap: Thunder Ridge Takes a Loss

If Thunder Ridge was riding high fresh off their 10-3 takedown of Centennial on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Thunder Ridge fell just short of the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies by a score of 9-8 on Saturday. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Grizzlies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Carly Jones was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Giulia Johns made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Avery Roberts was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Even though they lost, Thunder Ridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rocky Mountain only posted a batting average of .200.

Thunder Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Rocky Mountain, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

While Thunder Ridge had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
