Baseball Recap: Carlinville Find Success

Carlinville won against Nokomis last Monday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Cavaliers came out on top against the Bunker Hill Minutemen by a score of 4-1. The Cavaliers haven't had any issues with the Minutemen recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Ian Ronald made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI.

Ronald wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drew Quarton, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Cash Enrietta also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Bunker Hill, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Carlinville and Bunker Hill could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Cavaliers will take on North Mac at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (477 vs. 150). Meanwhile, Bunker Hill (ranked 503rd) will meet Roxana (ranked 110th) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
