Recap: Ygnacio Valley Wolves vs. Alhambra Bulldogs
This season hasn't been kind to The Ygnacio Valley Wolves, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They took a serious blow against Alhambra on Friday, falling 65-0. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ygnacio Valley in their matchups with Alhambra: they've now lost four in a row.
Fred Fine threw for 81 yards on four of 20 attempts. Dalton Gates was his top target, picking up 73 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Leading Alhambra to victory were Beau Blau and Luke Beaty. Blau threw for 166 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes, while Beaty picked up 106 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Elias Aleman and his 88 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Alhambra's win.
Ygnacio Valley's loss was their 19th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.8 points per game. As for Alhambra, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Ygnacio Valley will look to defend their home field on Friday against Berean Christian at 7:00 p.m. As for Alhambra, they will head out on the road to face off against Northgate at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
