Basketball Recap: Orangeville Comes Up Short

Orangeville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a blow against the River Ridge Wildcats, falling 62-29. The Broncos were down 50-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Mason Smith went supernova for River Ridge, almost dropping a double-double with 11 boards and nine steals. Smith is becoming a predictor of River Ridge's success: when he posts at least five steals the team is 6-3 (and 6-11 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Damon Dittmar, who posted 16 points.

Orangeville's loss dropped their record down to 2-26. As for River Ridge, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-14.

Looking ahead, Orangeville will challenge Pearl City at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. River Ridge has already played their next match (against Warren), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
