Football Game Preview: Wylie Bulldogs vs. Plainview Bulldogs

Wylie is 6-1 against Plainview since November of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Wylie will welcome Plainview at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Wylie and four for Plainview.

On Friday, Wylie came up short against Lubbock-Cooper and fell 42-35.

Wylie didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Blaze Ruffin and Bo Kates. Kates is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. Landry Pate was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 23 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ruffin, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Plainview took a blow against Memorial on Friday, falling 49-22. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Wylie will need to focus on slowing down Seth Mayberry, one of several Plainview players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 379 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Jordan Porter was Mayberry's top target, picking up 155 receiving yards and one TD.

Plainview's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Wylie, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Wylie beat Plainview 28-17 when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Will Wylie repeat their success, or does Plainview has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
