Bethesda Christian is a perfect 5-0 against Indianapolis Shortridge since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Patriots will welcome the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bethesda Christian has four straight victories, Indianapolis Shortridge has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Bethesda Christian lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Herron, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Patriots put the hurt on the Achaeans with a sharp 17-2 win on Monday. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Patriots this season.
Annah Heath spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Bethesda Christian let Eliza Gibbs and Avery Gibbs run wild. Eliza went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Avery went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Avery has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maylin Heathco, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bethesda Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Herron only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis Shortridge came up short against Liberty Christian on Thursday, falling 19-9.
Jaeda Scott led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Izzi Sellers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Bethesda Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Indianapolis Shortridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bethesda Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Indianapolis Shortridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
