Ashbrook and Kings Mountain are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2022, but not for long. The Ashbrook Greenwave will be playing at home against the Kings Mountain Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashbrook knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 21 games -- so hopefully Kings Mountain likes a good challenge.
Ashbrook is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They managed a 95-89 victory over Huss on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Greenwave in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won four in a row.

Ashbrook got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Issac Byers Jr. out in front who went 9-for-17 en route to 29 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. That's the most points Byers Jr. has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jamari Smith, who went 11-for-22 on his way to 24 points in addition to six assists and six boards.
Ashbrook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 13 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Kings Mountain came up short against Crest on Friday and fell 72-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (55), the Mountaineers still had to take the loss.
Ashbrook will have to keep a close watch on Ethan Daniel and Xavier Hutchens, a pair of players who had a big impact on Kings Mountain's prior game. Daniel went 5-for-9 to rack up 15 points, while Hutchens earned nine points along with six rebounds and three steals. Kee'Donn Linney was another key player, putting up 13 points and five boards.
Kings Mountain has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season. As for Ashbrook, their win bumped their record up to 21-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Ashbrook has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 36.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kings Mountain struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Ashbrook strolled past Kings Mountain when the teams last played back in January by a score of 84-66. Will Ashbrook repeat their success, or does Kings Mountain have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
