Soccer Game Preview: Research Triangle vs. Falls Lake

The Research Triangle Raptors will head out to face off against the Falls Lake Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Research Triangle has given up an average of 4.2 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Research Triangle is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to nine goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Franklin Academy on Monday. They came up short against the Patriots, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, Research Triangle can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Franklin Academy are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Falls Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to Raleigh Charter.

Falls Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Research Triangle, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11-1 record this season.
