Softball Game Preview: Holmen Vikings vs. River Falls Wildcats

The Holmen Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the River Falls Wildcats at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Holmen will be strutting in after a victory while River Falls will be coming in after a loss.

Holmen came out on top against La Crosse Logan on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Rangers. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won three matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, River Falls was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 11-0 to Eau Claire North.

River Falls now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Holmen, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Holmen couldn't quite finish off River Falls in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
