Softball Recap: Mt. Vernon Has No Trouble Against Anderson

Mt. Vernon came out on top against Anderson on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Marauders put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 10-1 victory. The Marauders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians, too.

Ameila Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 12 Ks.

At the plate, Emma Jenkins was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Breanna Laffey, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Mt. Vernon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mt. Vernon's win bumped their record up to 5-13. As for Anderson, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Mt. Vernon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Center Grove on the 22nd. As for Anderson, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-4 loss against Fishers on the 22nd.
