Soccer Game Preview: Lecanto vs. Springstead

The Lecanto Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Springstead Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lecanto will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Lecanto's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Leesburg with a sharp 8-0 win. Considering the Panthers have won seven matches by more than four goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Leesburg with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from GABRIELLA MALMBERG (3), BIANCA REED (3), and PEYTON DISON (2).

Meanwhile, after soaring to five goals the game before, Springstead was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to Cypress Creek. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Coyotes are ranked 50th).

Lecanto pushed their record up to 9-1-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 36 goals over those five contests. As for Springstead, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.

Lecanto suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Springstead in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lecanto was down 5-1.
