Baseball Recap: Hillsboro Hiltoppers vs. Carlinville Cavaliers
Hillsboro had lost 14 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 2-17 to make it 15. They fell 8-3 to the Carlinville Cavaliers. The Hiltoppers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Hillsboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Hughes, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
As for Carlinville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-13. That five run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
