Volleyball Recap: Nazareth Academy Comes Up Short

Nazareth Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Carmel Corsairs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Roadrunners of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Nazareth Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-18, 25-23.

Matt Hounihan paced Nazareth Academy's offense, picking up ten kills. Hounihan got some help from Maks Galik and his 27 assists. Galik was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Nazareth Academy's record now sits at 8-24. As for Carmel, their victory bumped their record up to 7-24.

Looking ahead, Nazareth Academy will face off against Saint Viator at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carmel, they have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Chicago Mt. Carmel on the 14th.
