Basketball Recap: Omar Garcia's Big Game Can't Quite Lead San Jacinto over Elsinore

San Jacinto suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2024 on Wednesday. They lost 76-54 to the Elsinore Tigers. San Jacinto was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-22.

San Jacinto lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Omar Garcia, who went 5 for 6 en route to 10 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Erik Gonzalez, who posted seven points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, San Jacinto smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Watkins is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamrynn Nathan, who had 13 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

San Jacinto has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Elsinore, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.

As for Elsinore, they will head out on the road to face off against Tahquitz at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
