Basketball Recap: Weslaco East Takes a Loss

Weslaco East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Lopez Lobos, falling 47-22. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-30 back in December of 2024.

Angel Nwanne was Weslaco East's leading scorer, having posted 11 points. Nwanne also led the team in assists with three. Lex Ybarra held things down on the boards with ten rebounds.

Weslaco East's loss dropped their record down to 6-21. As for Lopez, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Weslaco East will welcome Donna at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lopez, they will square off against Harlingen South at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lopez comes in on seven and Harlingen South on 15.
