Basketball Recap: Port Isabel Takes a Loss

Port Isabel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Los Fresnos Falcons, falling 61-23. While losing is never fun, the Tarpons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1328th, while the Falcons are ranked 565th).

Port Isabel's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Los Fresnos, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Port Isabel will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on La Feria at 6:30 p.m. on January 9, 2026. Los Fresnos will take on Weslaco in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
