Basketball Game Preview: Boca Ciega Pirates vs. Seminole Warhawks

The Boca Ciega Pirates will square off against the Seminole Warhawks on Wednesday. Boca Ciega knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Seminole likes a good challenge.

Last Monday, Boca Ciega didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Dunedin, but they still walked away with a 72-66 victory.

Anthony Brown and Hunter Dyer were among the main playmakers for Boca Ciega as the former dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds and the latter went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Myreon Phillip, who posted eight points and six boards.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Seminole's strategy against Largo on Wednesday. Seminole put the hurt on Largo with a sharp 72-49 win. The Warhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 23 points or more this season.

Seminole is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Boca Ciega, they pushed their record up to 15-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Boca Ciega came up short against Seminole in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 71-59. Can Boca Ciega avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
