Mayville had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-4 to make it four. They came up short against the Dryden Cardinals, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 on Thursday.
Mayville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Estrine, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
As for Dryden, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
On Dryden's side, Aiden Furneaux and Ian Tresnek were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Furneaux didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Tresnek tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Furneaux went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Tresnek went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Tresnek has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Stankevich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowan Handley, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mayville will welcome Owendale-Gagetown at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dryden, they will face off against Carsonville-Port Sanilac at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
