Basketball Recap: Carnegie Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Carnegie challenged Sterling on Friday. The Carnegie Wildcats lost 60-39 to the Sterling Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 42-32 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Carnegie lost, don't look at Karlee Tohkofper. Despite the final result, she to rack up 15 points and six rebounds. That was a full 38.5% of Carnegie's points, marking the sixth time in a row Tohkofper has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Carnegie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Carnegie's loss dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Sterling, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Carnegie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sterling, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-32 win against Healdton on the 15th.
