Basketball Recap: Grape Creek Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Grape Creek proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 20) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Sweetwater Mustangs 42-40. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1115th, while the Mustangs are ranked 532nd).

Grape Creek's win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-15. As for Sweetwater, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Merkel the next time they take the court. Sweetwater will head out to face Merkel at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Grape Creek will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
