Basketball Game Preview: Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks vs. Marian Mustangs

Bloomfield Hills hasn't had much luck against Marian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks will face off against the Marian Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bloomfield Hills will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Southfield Arts & Tech, who they had gone 0-8 against in their eight prior meetings. Bloomfield Hills secured a 51-47 W over Southfield Arts & Tech on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Black Hawks.

Bloomfield Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Briana Young, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 22 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Young a new career-high in assists (six). Another player making a difference was Evia Barbu, who posted 16 points.

Bloomfield Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Marian entered their tilt with Seaholm on Wednesday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Maples by a score of 53-43. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Marian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-15. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points over those games. As for Bloomfield Hills, their record now sits at 10-11.

Bloomfield Hills lost to Marian on the road by a decisive 50-35 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2023.
