Softball Recap: Purnell Swett Rams vs. Hoke County Bucks
Purnell Swett extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 9-9 in the process. They came out on top against the Hoke County Bucks by a score of 10-6. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bucks, too.
Kam Locklear was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles.

In other batting news, Lanna Haggans and Chloe Chavis did most of the damage at the plate: Haggans went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Chavis went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Chavis a new career-high. Jayla Graham was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
As for Hoke County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 16-5 record. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this game were averaging four runs allowed.
