Basketball Recap: West Beats Rio Vista for Their Third Straight Victory

West had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 51-40 win over the Rio Vista Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Trojans also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2020.

West's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ayden Poteet, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. Easton Rinewalt was another key player, putting up nine points and six assists.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dawson Macklin, who posted 15 points and six rebounds. Macklin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Scott, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Rio Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Scurry-Rosser the next time they take the court. Rio Vista will host Scurry-Rosser at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while West will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
