Basketball Recap: Patel Comes Up Short

Patel had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-12 to make it four. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 30-29 to the Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate Phoenix. The Trailblazers were up 18-4 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

When it comes to explaining why Patel lost, don't look at Neveah Davis. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points.

As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-12 record. The victory almost wasn't to be: they were down 18-4 in the second quarter.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaidyn Chukukere, who put up eight points in addition to six boards and three steals. Chukukere is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hannah Palakkat, who almost dropped a triple-double with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals.

Looking ahead, Patel will challenge Winthrop College Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate, they will take on Cambridge Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
