Baseball Game Preview: Myers Park Mustangs vs. Hopewell Titans

The Myers Park Mustangs will take on the Hopewell Titans at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Myers Park will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Myers Park beat Lincoln Charter 8-3.

Davis Johnson and Jaxon West did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1, while West went 3-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits West has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Bundon, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Myers Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Charter only posted a batting average of .222.

Meanwhile, Hopewell unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Mecklenburg. The match marked the first time this season in which the Titans were not able to get on the board.

Myers Park's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hopewell, their loss dropped their record down to 14-4.

Myers Park couldn't quite finish off Hopewell in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
