Softball Game Preview: Holmes County Blue Devils vs. Trenton Tigers

The Holmes County Blue Devils will square off against the Trenton Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Holmes County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Altha with a sharp 19-1 win on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Blue Devils with their most commanding win of the season.

Jacee Bowers was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Lyndsey Pilcher was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Holmes County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, everything went Trenton's way against Wewahitchka on Friday as Trenton made off with a 9-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won four in a row.

Emma Brideson looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Makenna Young was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Emaleigh Philmon, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Holmes County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. Trenton's victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
