Reed is 8-2 against Damonte Ranch since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Raiders will host the Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. The timing is sure in Reed's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Damonte Ranch has been banged up by 13 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Reed is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: McQueen, who was ranked 14th at the time (Reed was ranked second). The Raiders narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Lancers 4-3.
Hayley Noble spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Krystyn Noble, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 11 matches.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Damonte Ranch finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They lost 13-2 to Douglas.
Savanna Esqueda was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Reed is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Damonte Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Reed hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .382. However, it's not like Damonte Ranch struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
