Baseball Game Preview: Northlake Christian Wolverines vs. Springfield Bulldogs

The Northlake Christian Wolverines will head out on the road to challenge the Springfield Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Springfield took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Northlake Christian, who comes in off a win.

Northlake Christian had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Metairie Park Country Day on Friday. The Wolverines never let the Cajuns get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Wolverines not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 17th.

Cade Christner looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Northlake Christian: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 11-13-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Luke McAdams was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace Crane, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Springfield fell victim to Hammond and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tornadoes. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Tornadoes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Springfield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Sanders, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 14-18. As for Northlake Christian, the victory got them back to even at 14-14-1.

Northlake Christian skirted past Springfield 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
