Recap: Eastside Eagles vs. Rogers Heritage War Eagles
The Eastside Eagles have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 64-39 walloping at the hands of Rogers Heritage on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Eastside came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked tenth in South Carolina, while Rogers Heritage is ranked 72nd in Arkansas).
Despite the loss, Eastside saw an underclassman step up: Kristen Mcbride scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Miracle Cheeks, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Eastside's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Rogers Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
Eastside and Blue Ridge will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Blue Ridge is on a four-game streak of home wins, Eastside a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Rogers Heritage will take on Fayetteville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
