Volleyball Recap: Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Sophie Ryken and Brielle Amarel

After a string of four wins, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Peoria Panthers. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Panthers when the teams met back in September of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Brielle Amarel and Sophie Ryken. Amarel had eight digs and two assists, while Ryken had 11 digs, six kills, and two aces. Ryken is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 19 games she's played.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Peoria, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-13.

Coincidentally, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy and Peoria will both be playing Copper Canyon the next time they take the court. The Spartans will head out to face the Aztecs at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Panthers will play them later in the day, at 1:00 p.m.
