Basketball Game Preview: Symmes Valley Vikings vs. Minford Falcons

The Symmes Valley Vikings will take on the Minford Falcons in a holiday battle at at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Symmes Valley easily dispatched Glenwood on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Symmes Valley fell just short of Portsmouth West by a score of 54-51 on Friday. The game was a 25-25 toss-up at halftime, but the Vikings couldn't quite close it out.

Despite their loss, Symmes Valley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Willie Jones, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Corn, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Minford put another one in the bag on Sunday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 63-59 W over Hilliard Davidson.

Symmes Valley now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Minford, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Symmes Valley suffered a grim 80-54 defeat to Minford when the teams last played back in December of 2023. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Symmes Valley was down 49-24.
