Basketball Recap: Wheeler County Bulldogs vs. Wilcox County Patriots
Wheeler County lost against Wilcox County two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wheeler County Bulldogs took a hard 55-36 fall against the Wilcox County Patriots. Nikita James and Derrionna Madison certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. James went 7 for 16 to rack up 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Madison posted four points and three steals. James' evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.
Leading Wilcox County to victory were Shamauri Martin and Zariah Martin. Shamauri had 17 points in addition to six steals and five assists, while Zariah went 5 of 10 en route to 10 points along with eight steals and six boards. Thanks to that strong game, Zariah now owns an excellent 45.1% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Tyliah Benjamin, who put up ten points and eight rebounds.
Wheeler County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Wilcox County, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season.
