Football Game Preview: Silver Creek Raiders vs. Pioneer Mustangs + Official Tickets

Silver Creek is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will venture away from home to square off against the Pioneer Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. Silver Creek's defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so Pioneer's offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Silver Creek beat Gilroy 17-7. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Jordan Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 133 yards and two TDs. Those 133 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Silver Creek was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 260 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gilroy only rushed for 80.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pioneer). Everything went their way against Westmont on Friday as they made off with a 27-7 victory.

Silver Creek better focus on containing Braeden Ries and Nick Furman as the pair were huge in Pioneer's win. Ries rushed for 23 yards and a pair of scores, while Furman rushed for 69 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

Silver Creek now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Pioneer, their record now sits at 2-3.

Silver Creek came up short against Pioneer in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 16-7. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
