Recap: Pueblo Central Wildcats vs. Harrison Panthers

The Pueblo Central Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 39-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harrison. Pueblo Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Harrison apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why Pueblo Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emeri Whiting. Despite the final result, she scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whiting has scored all season.

Ali'ah Barker had an outrageously good game for Harrison as she almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine steals. It was the first time this season that Barker scored 15 or more points. Heaven Wilburn was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Pueblo Central has not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Harrison, their win ended a eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-18.

Pueblo Central won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pueblo Centennial at 5:30 p.m. on February 13th. Pueblo Central is coming into the game with seven straight losses on the road, meaning Pueblo Centennial will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Harrison, they will square off against Widefield at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Widefield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday.
