Basketball Recap: Austin Leslie Key Part of a Team Effort in Vikings Win

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Bishop Verot on Friday. They took down the Neumann Celtics 62-45. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Celtics are ranked 440th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Verot got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Austin Leslie out in front who went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points and three steals. The contest was Leslie's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Williams, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 20 points.

Bishop Verot was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Bishop Verot has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Neumann, their record now sits at 13-12.

Bishop Verot and Neumann are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Bishop Verot has already played their next game (against Glades Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Neumann will square off against Marco Island Academy on Monday.
