Basketball Game Preview: Simon Kenton Pioneers vs. Campbell County Camels

The Simon Kenton Pioneers will venture away from home to challenge the Campbell County Camels at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Simon Kenton will be strutting in after a victory while Campbell County will be coming in after a defeat.

Simon Kenton is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Walton-Verona: they outscored them in every quarter. Simon Kenton put the hurt on Walton-Verona with a sharp 54-34 win on Friday. The Pioneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Jordan Bach was the offensive standout of the contest as he went 5 of 7 on his way to 18 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Bilton, who posted eight points and three steals.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Campbell County's good fortune finally ran out on Sunday. They lost 76-51 to Highlands.

Simon Kenton will have to contain Garyn Jackson as he made an impact in Campbell County's last game. He went 6 for 11 en route to 16 points. The matchup was Jackson's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Braden Elam, who earned 11 points.

Simon Kenton is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Campbell County, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Simon Kenton hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.2 points per game. However, it's not like Campbell County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 68 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Simon Kenton came up short against Campbell County when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 62-50. Can Simon Kenton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
