Baseball Recap: Palo Verde Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Palo Verde waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Bishop Alemany Warriors with a sharp 13-1 win. Considering the Panthers have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Hayden Lucibello tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Clauss, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Tanner Johns, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Palo Verde always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Palo Verde's record is now 21-7. As for Bishop Alemany, they dropped their record down to 9-14 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palo Verde will head out to take on Arbor View at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bishop Alemany, they will venture away from home to face off against Chaminade at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
