Basketball Recap: Edgewood Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Addison Yearby and Macey Crider

Edgewood's game on Friday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to the Owen Valley Patriots 40-34. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Edgewood's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Macey Crider, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards, and Addison Yearby, who posted nine points. Edgewood is 8-3 when Crider posts eight or more rebounds, but 2-4 otherwise.

Owen Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubrey Sparks, who went 6 for 12 en route to 16 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Hogan, who earned nine points and five rebounds.

Edgewood has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Owen Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-5.

Edgewood will take on Eastern Greene at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Owen Valley has already played their next contest (against South Putnam), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
